The RIEDEL brand revolutionized the world of glassmaking when Claus J. Riedel, 9th generation, designed in 1974 the first collection of wine glasses: “Sommeliers”. This masterful series set a precedent for the future of lens design. Georg J. Riedel, 10th generation, advanced his father's research by introducing RIEDEL's sensory workshops in order to test and refine their creations with the help of master sommeliers and winegrowers. Georg presented in 1986 the world's first collection of wine glasses dedicated to a grape variety: Vinum. These glasses take into consideration the DNA of the wine in order to express its full depth and obtain a better balance. Maximilian Riedel, 11th generation, took over the general management in 2014 and continued to develop the brand for today's connoisseurs and tasters. From the launch of the O series to his original collection of functional decanters, Maximilian draws on his family's prodigious heritage to continue to create. His latest foray into the world of cocktails allowed him to increase the ingenuity of RIEDEL beyond wine. RIEDEL continues its momentum, innovating and constantly evolving, in order to reach the pinnacle of modern and functional glassware.
